Moscow buses are equipped with turnstiles
In the next two years, all Moscow buses are scheduled to be fitted out with turnstiles.
About this, on Saturday February 1, told reporters City Mayor Yuri Luzhkov during the inspection of several new versions of domestic buses at the exposition site in Luzhniki.
As reported by the correspondent of RIA Novosti, according to the mayor, turnstile system will be introduced in stages, and gradually it will cover all urban bus routes. Replying to a question, whether this will lead to the emergence of queues during the boarding of buses, the mayor expressed confidence that "this will not happen, it is a thing of habit."
Luzhkov believes that the buses with turnstiles are needed in Moscow, as it would drastically reduce the number of stowaways in urban transport. Now an annual subsidy from the city budget for public passenger transport accounted for about 600 million rubles, said the mayor. If all passengers will pay for their travels, it would significantly reduce the costs of city treasury, said Luzhkov.
