Moscow region buses will soon be equipped with turnstiles

MOSCOW, May 28./PRIME-TASS/Moscow region buses will soon be equipped with turnstiles. As reported on Friday by ITAR-TASS, in the Ministry of Transport of the Moscow Region, turnstiles experiment that was conducted in 2002-2003 in Ramensk, is found successful, and soon will continue in other cities in the Moscow region.

According to the interlocutor of the agency, the automated travel control system on city routes of Ramensk, revealed some fundamental characteristics of passenger flows. For example, on the basis of the data in the city was increased the number of vehicles on the most popular routes, and also reduced the interval of travel during peak hours. In addition, the income of local travel companies after installing turnstiles grew by one and a half times, as added in the ministry.

According to experts, the introduction of such system in other cities of Moscow region, will not only almost entirely rule out the possibility of stowaway, but will allow passengers to receive transport services in the right place and at the right time, as the automation will help transport operators to ascertain the effectiveness of the existing schedule and make corresponding adjustments. First to pilot the use of turnstiles for public transport as far back as 2002, was Moscow. Initially, the new devices were introduced in Zelenograd buses, then the "torch" was passed to the buses in Solntsevo and Novoperedelkino. In 2003 entrance turnstiles also appeared in some trams, circulating in the heart of the capital.
